President Bush signed the CAN-SPAM act into Law on December 16th. But, will it help? Or will it actually make some SPAM legal?

If the Federal CAN-SPAM law is not passed, California has an alternative. But according to some, this law could end up costing innocent companies money for non-SPAM email messages. The law does not appear to put a clear definition on the word SPAM, and leaves it up to lawyers to decide.

US Senate cans Spam
The US Senate Wednesday passed the CAN Spam Act of 2003 with email tagging, and measures designed to stop anonymous and false return addresses. The Senate also called upon the FTC to set up a "Do Not Spam" list, although some experts wonder about its effectiveness.
